“The Only Thing That Is Constant Is Change.” Heraclitus of Ephesus (c. 500 BCE)
“Change” has been my mode of philosophy towards my career in education as of late. I had no idea what becoming a “Reading Interventionist” would entail when approached in the spring of 2017 by Mr. Marolt wondering if I would be open to a “change”. After a brief description, a more in depth conversation, and much thought, I agreed, “Sure, why not.” Music has always been my passion but so has the written word. I am honored to be part of a program that what I envision to empower the children of our community to become more proficient readers and learners. It is truly a journey of a lifetime in my educational career. I am enjoying the newness, the overall challenge of helping create something successful at Challenger and the change.
In 1997, my journey at Challenger Elementary began as a Music Specialist. I was in this position until the fall of 2017, at which time I became the Reading Specialist and assisted in implementing the PRESS Reading Program.
