About Reading Groups
Challenger uses the Leveled Literacy Intervention System (LLI) developed by Fountas and Pinnell to instruct children who find reading and writing difficult. We use a teacher to student ratio of 1:3. Our goal is to scaffold students to higher levels of literacy and to acquire a strong foundation of strategies that can be used in reading and writing.
Challenger’s Title I team is composed of reading specialists that have been trained to provide supplemental reading instruction.
Each lesson builds on the previous one and is tailored to meet your child's instructional needs. We use ongoing formative assessments to ensure all children are learning and gaining more independence in reading.
